Artist Statement

After having taught art for 30 years in public schools and raising a family, I have found time to follow my passion: oil painting. My art is an expression of where I have been and what I have seen. The organic shapes found in nature, both plant life and the human form, and the arrangement of those shapes in a two-dimensional space are my beginning. Sometimes I will change reality through a distortion of those shapes, but often by playing with the colors and their effects on one another. My interpretation of the subject is sometimes abstract, sometimes impressionistic, but always an expression of what I feel to create an energy that stimulates our thoughts.
